The Cats
Luna (Latin word for "moon")
As the guardian of Sailormoon, Luna is one of the first characters to appear in BSSM. She found and trained Sailormoon, Sailormercury, Sailormars, and Sailorjupiter. Talk about an incredible cat! Have you seen her work a computer? She even speaks some strange language...see. Maybe it's her native tongue.
She is originally from the planet Mau. During the time of the Silver Millenium, she and Artemis came to the moon as two of Queen Serenity's closest advisors. It is a matter of debate whether they were originally human or cats. Naoko-sensei has never been clear on that point.
In the present, Luna does transform into a human. She falls in love with a human, Kakeru, and as a Christmas gift Sailormoon grants her feline friend's wish for a night. Later she could change when she chose. Eventually Luna does find the love of her life...right under her nose. In the future Crystal Tokyo she and Artemis are happily together with their daughter Diana. =^.^=
Artemis (Greek goddess of the moon)
Artemis is also a gurardian--to Sailorvenus, the leader of the Inner Senshi. He found and trained her when she was 13. The two of them are constantly arguing (but it's so cute!).
Like Luna, he is originally from the planet Mau, though neither of them seem to have many memories about it. He was the only one from the Silver Millenium to retain his memories. Before they were sent forward, he and Luna developed the plan to have Veuns pose as the Moon Princess if necessary. However, he was the only one to remember it wasn't real.
Later in the story, he also transformed into a human. The first time he does is so dramatic. Minako is deparately clinging to the edge of a building and Artemis is doing all he can to keep her from falling. Just when it seems all is lost, he finds the power to transform and pulls her to safety.
Throughout the story his is deeply in love with Luna. It is particularly hard on him when she falls for Kakeru. I feel so sorry for him. It's obvious that she knows how he feels, but she wouldn't admit it. I am just so happy it all works out in the end. They are such a cute couple!
Diana (Roman goddess of the moon)
This kawaii kitten is the future daughter of Luna and Artemis and the guardian of Chibiusa. She is very small and is rarely seen far from the pink-haired little girl. Diana has an odd afinity for riding on people's heads--it is her favorite means of transportation. ^_^
Like her parents, she also is able to transform into a human, though for some reason she still has a tail whe she does! O_o Overall, Diana is an innocent little thing that is always trying to act grown up like her mother. She's adorable and I must admit I've been drawn in by it too!
